Fix problems with a site

A page vanished, a link broke, the wrong page is the front door, or the publish was refused. Start here.

A page disappeared after I updated the site

What happened. Publishing a site is a sync, not an add. Whatever is in the folder becomes the site, so a file that wasn't in the folder this time is removed from the live site, along with that page's leads and stats.

This usually happens when someone asks Claude to publish "just the page I changed."

Fix it. Put the file back in the folder and publish the whole folder again. The page returns at the same address. Its old leads and stats do not come back, so if a page had signups worth keeping, export them before experimenting. See Capture leads from your pages.

Avoid it. Always publish the entire folder, every time. Say "publish the whole folder" rather than naming one file.

What happened. The link points somewhere that only existed on your computer, usually an absolute path or a file name that changed.

Fix it. Ask Claude to make the links between your pages relative, like about.html or pricing/index.html, and publish the folder again. Links written that way keep working at every address the site ever lives at.

The wrong page is my front door

Open the site from Sites, go to the Pages tab, open the menu on the page you want, and choose Make homepage. The site's address doesn't change; whichever page is the homepage answers at it.

My site is at /yoursite/ and I want it at the root

That's what a custom domain is for. See Put a site on your own domain.

My publish was refused

"Your plan allows N pages per site; this folder has M HTML files." One site can only hold so many pages on your plan. Trim the folder or upgrade. This ceiling isn't shown anywhere in the dashboard, so a refused publish is usually the first time anyone meets it.

A message about your sites limit. You've used every site your plan includes. Delete a site you no longer need, or upgrade. See Plans and limits.

My site isn't in Google

Every page starts private, including every page of a site, and switching on the homepage doesn't switch on the others. See Get a site found by Google and AI.

Visitors see "This page is offline"

Your account is over its plan's limits, so pages were paused. Sites pause as a whole rather than page by page. Nothing is deleted and upgrading brings it all back. See Plans and limits.

I updated the site and it looks the same

Wait a minute and refresh hard. Pages are cached briefly, so a visitor who loaded the site in the last minute can still see the old version.

If a second copy of the site appeared instead of your changes landing, the publish created a new site rather than updating the old one. Ask Claude to update the existing site by name, and delete the duplicate.
