Get a site found by Google and AI

Every page of your site starts private. Here is how to get the whole site listed, not just the front door.

Every page you publish starts private, and a site is many pages, so a new site is entirely invisible to Google and to AI answer engines until you switch it on. The important part, and the one people miss: switching on the homepage does not switch on the rest. Each page has its own switch.

Switch on the homepage

The homepage is your site's face. Its title, description, and share picture are what Google shows for the site and what appears when someone posts the link.

  1. Open the site from Sites, then the Site details tab.
  2. In the Search & AI card, click Edit the homepage's Search & AI settings. That opens the homepage's own page.
  3. Turn on Allow search engines and Allow AI agents.
  4. Edit the Meta title and Meta description if you want different words from the ones written for you.
  5. Click Save changes.

Then switch on every page you want found

An about page, a pricing page, or an article only turns up in search if you switch that page on too.

  1. Open the site's Pages tab.
  2. Click a page, go to its Page details, and turn on the two toggles in its Search & AI card.
  3. Save, and repeat for each page you want listed.

Leave a page off and it stays reachable by anyone with the link, just not listed. That's a reasonable choice for a thank-you page or anything you'd rather not have turning up in a search.

How to tell it worked

Your sitemap.xml lists the pages you've switched on and nothing else. Open https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml (or the same path on your pagesumo.com address) and check that the pages you expect are named there. It updates within about a minute.

Being listed in Google itself takes longer, and that part is Google's decision, not something we can hurry. Days to weeks is normal for a new site.

Common questions

Can I ask Claude to do this instead? Yes, one page at a time: "make the about page findable on Google". Claude switches search and AI on for that page.

I switched the homepage on and my other pages still aren't showing. That's the behavior described above rather than a fault. Each page needs its own switch.

Do I have to republish after switching pages on? No. Everything a search engine needs was written into each page when you published it. The switch is the only thing that was holding them back.
